Sock Design Contest

When you think of a company sock design, you might imagine a bland, predictable design that lacks any real creativity or meaning. But not at BranchPattern! Our sock designs are anything but boring. Each contest produces a range of creative designs that tell unique stories about our firm and people.

Our sock design contest isn’t just about creating a cool piece of clothing for our customers. The selected designs are a direct reflection of BranchPattern’s identity and core values. Our socks show the world what BranchPattern stands for and what sets us apart.

A process that was once reserved for our talented marketing group was opened to all team members in 2020. We decided to tap into the creative potential of our entire workforce. The contest is now open to engineers, scientists, architects, designers and administrators from all departments, creating an opportunity for everyone to showcase their creative talents and see their ideas come to life. As part of the new process, voting was also opened to all employee-owners, creating a democratized process that allowed for a final sock design vetted by the entire firm.

As part of the contest brief, artists are asked, “What story does your design tell?” The answers are as numerous and as fascinating as the designs themselves. This year, one submission envisioned a winding city skyline with our various office locations listed, calling attention to the feeling of being united through our purpose, despite being spread throughout the country. Another presented a landscape to highlight the positive effects of biophilic design in buildings, something our team encourages wherever possible on a project.
